SPoR Lapel Pin

 

The SPoR Lapel Pin is a great adornment that sponsors conversation about SPoR and risk. The icon represents the dialectic between Headspace and Groupspace playing on the optical illusion of two faces known as the Rubin Vase. The icon demonstrates ambiguity in perception with bi-stable figures and emphasizes the idea that Social Psychology of Risk (SPoR) takes a different ‘view’ on the world of risk. The band around the icon also bears the Greek icon/letter ‘psi’ a common icon associated with Psychology.

 

The wearing of the lapel pin helps anchor to the semiotic nature of SPoR and presents a semiotic in identity as opposed to identity in text.

 

The purpose of the badge serves as an ‘anchor’ for those who have studied SPoR just as the circle of faces represents the continuous conversation between persons who question in the quest for learning. The vase shape serves to represent the dialectic of life in Socialitie, the social nature of being and becoming in relationship to persons and the environment/semiosphere.

RYSK Lapel Pin

 

The RYSK Lapel Pin brings together many of the core principles and ideas that are the foundation of SPoR. When worn this lapel pin provides great opportunity for conversation and discussion of SPoR studies.

 

First of all we notice that risk is spelt wrong. Like many changed conventions in human dymensions we use the ‘y’ in the emphasis of ‘you’. This stands in contrast to the common discourse in risk and safety that is about telling, which is all about ‘me’ and the power of ‘me’.

 

The letters of RYSK stand for Risk Yntelligence Skill and Knowledge. Most importantly the Y is in the shape of a person with open arms and a head filled with a triarchic Mind for thinking about Workspace, Headspace and Group Space, One Brain Three Minds. The endless triquetra icon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triquetra) represents the relationships between Minds (1B3M) and Spaces (WS, HS, GS) in risk.

 

The semiotics of the pin help to anchor as a reminder of the critical principles that are the foundation for understanding risk (1B3M, WS, HS, GS)
